What is Pediatric Pelvic Therapy?

Pediatric pelvic floor therapy is a specialized area aimed at addressing issues related to the pelvic floor in children. The pelvic floor consists of muscles, ligaments, and tissues that support the bladder, bowel, and reproductive organs. Therapy is designed to help children with various pelvic floor dysfunctions and is tailored to their specific needs and developmental stage. Pelvic floor difficulties can cause toileting challenges and so much more. At Pediatric Pelvic Power, I use noninvasive techniques to address your child’s challenges.

Signs and Symptoms Your Child May Benefit from Pelvic Therapy

Determining whether a child needs pelvic floor therapy can be challenging, as the signs and symptoms may be subtle or mistaken for typical childhood behaviors. Here at Pediatric Pelvic Power, I am determined to find the root cause of your child’s discomfort. There are key indicators that may suggest a child could benefit from this type of therapy. If a child is experiencing persistent issues related to bladder, bowel, or pelvic pain, or if they show signs of pelvic floor dysfunction, it may be time to seek a professional evaluation.

With extensive experience in diverse settings—including nursing homes, hospitals, schools, and early intervention—Sargam recognized a critical gap in care for children struggling with pelvic floor issues. Her passion for pediatric pelvic floor therapy was ignited by a desire to ensure that every child receives the compassionate and individualized care they deserve. Occupational therapy plays a crucial role in improving the quality of life for children with pelvic floor dysfunction, facilitating better overall development and emotional well-being. Sargam has completed specialized coursework in pediatric pelvic health with Dr. Quiara Smith.

Sargam believes that understanding a child’s unique needs is essential for effective treatment. She collaborates closely with families to develop holistic and integrative treatment plans that empower children and foster positive changes in their daily lives. Her philosophy emphasizes the importance of building trusting relationships with both children and their parents, creating a supportive environment for growth and healing.

I provide sessions through video conferencing or telephone sessions. I am located in Monmouth County, New Jersey. I also provide in-home mobile therapy where I will provide hands on therapy in the comfort of your own home.
